DVDs

The Digital Versatile Disc or DVD as it is known more commonly is used for storing data on. This is mainly for storage of optical information like data and video coverage too. DVDs are very much like the CDs or compact discs but can store much more data.

There are variations on DVDs, one has data that once written on it cannot be erased or re written which is the DVD ROM, while the other has data that can be erased and re written many times which is the DVD + RW. Apart from this there is the DVD+R where the data can only be written once and then functions like a DVD-ROM. The DVD-Audio and DVD-Video discs are those that have been formatted with audio and video contents.

The DVD is a popular form of storing entertainment like music and movies which makes it possible for those who have the equipment to visualize and also listen to the contents. This makes home entertainment much more interesting and wide ranging. Many have collections of the latest movies and music and this has become a hobby for collectors to create their own personal libraries. However, for those who do not wish to collect such a vast number of entertainment DVDs there are commercial libraries which work as lending libraries for a fee.
